Nordic light duo

Nordic light duo - Josefine Andersson and Daniel Beskow began their collaboration seven years ago and formed the duo Nordic-light duo.

Both share the same glowing love for the Nordic / European song treasure.

Their vision is to make the songs more accessible to an audience with the aid of a personal presentation and great musicality. They are now touring Scandinavia with various concert programs, with great success. During these seven years, the duo have had over 100 concerts together and tour around Scandinavia with a number of appreciated concert series. And received support from both "Kulturrådet" and the Helge Axelsson Foundation. And had the honor of having lessons with the famous Anne Sofie von Otter and Bengt Forsberg.

"Our vision is to make the Nordic song treasure more accessible to an audience with the aid of a personal presentation and great musicality. So that the music can continue to live."

"You could clearly notice how well the two musicians have played together, because their common expression was so organic and harmonious and  convincing.

Here the audience could hear two young musicians who will  find their way into the international scenes."

"The wonderful singer Josefine Andersson and Daniel Beskow offered a fabulous treat at Bjärka Säby Castle on March 26, 2022!

The concert at beautiful Bjärka Säby Castle this Saturday (March 26) was a formidable success! Josefine Andersson and Daniel Beskow have really succeeded in combining Elsa Beskow's fairytales and pictures with well-found and beautiful music into an extremely well-composed program. If you add to this the excellent performances of both artists, you can only talk about a success. Josefine's beautiful, mature mezzo-soprano paired with a committed and present body language made her interpretations of the songs performed, together with Daniel's well-balanced accompaniment, a great musical experience. Their alternating readings of selected pieces from Elsa Beskow's beloved fairytales together with the picture treasure (that most in the audience were familiar with since childhood), made the afternoon an art experience in many dimensions. Daniel's solo pieces in which he had the opportunity to show that he is not only a good accompanist but also a prominent concert pianist also contributed to this, which he also showed in his earlier performances with us. Daniel's paternal grandmother, Elsa Beskow, surely rejoiced in her heaven as much as our enthusiastic audience." Rolf Clifford

Our Concert Programs:

En Nordisk Kärlekssaga - A Nordic love story

Is a tribute to the Nordic vocal treasure, which emphasizes the Nordic tone language with the theme of love.  It's sound colors, images, and texts that burn of love but often have an underlying shadow of sadness and melancholy. In the music, you can experience the Nordic light and the clear air of our nature. It shows particularly clearly in the composers‘ selection of poems in which love is often reflected through nature. The fragile life that so quickly turns from youth into death. The composers capture the landscapes greatness with broad strokes and the small details such as the ripples on the ocean or flower petals with the thin brush. In the program, you can hear among others Stenhammar, Sibelius, Grieg, Nystroem, de Frumerie.

Haugtussa - A Womens fate

”Åt dig du hed och bleka myr där porsen gror och hägern skymtar skygg och flyr i stillhet stor. Åt dig, du kullens skära ljung där drömmar bor. Jag ger min sång om skymning tung och trolltyg mo.”

Now we are back with a new edition of "A Nordic Love Story" which focuses on the love story of Haugtussa. We want to dive deep into Arne Garborg's collection of poems which contains around a hundred poems in Nynorsk about the psychic girl Haugtussa (also called Veslemöy). About her life up in the Norwegian mountains, where she meets the love of her life Jon.
